We would like to invite you to attend the 10th BME Early Career Researchers  (BME ECR) conference at the Great Hall King’s College London.

Our highly anticipated 10th BME ECR Conference is taking  place on Friday, 10th July 2026. This event is set to be a remarkable gathering, bringing together a diverse group of BME emerging researchers and senior academics  from various disciplines celebrating the achievements of the past 10 years and looking to the future.

Attendees can look forward to a day themed: Recognition, Reflection and Renewal, where we will be hearing 10 Impact studies and through a panel discussions learn in dept what worked for them.

In addition to the formal presentations, the conference will host a series of future-focused conversations designed to inspire innovative thinking and collaboration among participants. These discussions will form a vision workshop where the findings will shape the future of BME ECR conference and network.

Networking opportunities will be plentiful, offering attendees the chance to connect with peers, establish new relationships, and exchange ideas with like-minded individuals who share a passion for advancing the academic careers of BME early career researchers.

CfAE ‘Effective STEMM Writing’ sessions (29 April, 06, 13 & 20 May)

Writing a dissertation this summer? Join our Successful STEMM writing sessions to upgrade your academic writing.

These live, one-hour, interactive sessions are designed to give you practical strategies to make your writing more effective, persuasive, and precise. You’ll work on strengthening clarity, coherence, and criticality, and learn how best to use GenAI to evaluate your writing. Each session combines expert guidance and targeted activities, ensuring you can apply the strategies immediately to your own writing.

The sessions are delivered online. You can sign up for as many as you like.

CfAE Effective Presentation Skills (30 April-21 May 2026)

Effective Presentation Skills: Presenting with impact
Thursday 30 April to Thursday 21 May, 14.00 – 15.30.

If you are required to present your research, whether internally or externally, in an informal or more formal setting, this short course will provide you with the space to upgrade your presentation skills. The course allows for intensive, iterative practice, directed peer review and detailed feedback.

You will focus on:

  • explaining your research in an engaging, professional way, relevant to the context, purpose and audience: focusing on visuals, language and voice
  • guiding your audience through your narrative and ensuring they can access technical content and recognise key messaging (motivation, relevance, value, impact, etc.)
  • rehearsing for presentations, both PPT and poster, to provide in-depth review and reflection opportunities whilst also building confidence
  • anticipating questions and rehearsing for successful interaction

Courses run for 4 weeks (90 minutes, once a week) and are delivered on campus at South Kensington.

Are you coming up to a viva or other assessed presentation? Are you keen to work on your public speaking or seminar skills?

Whether you’re an undergraduate or a postgraduate, our guided activity sessions for speaking can help you achieve success on your academic journey and beyond. Sessions are designed to give you the space and opportunity to prepare and rehearse for both everyday and high-stakes activities here at Imperial. Each session includes input tailored to academic STEMM settings and structured practice opportunities. There will be expert feedback and peer review to help you hone your skills.

The live, 50-minute, interactive sessions are held at different times and on different days throughout term, so you can access what you need, when you need it. We offer both on-campus and online options; check out the schedule. You can do as many as you like.

Human–AI Collaboration and Systems Design Contributor

We’re looking for an experienced contributor to join the Executive Education programme Transforming Business with AI, running from 13–17 July. This person would support a small number of afternoon sessions during the week, bringing practical insight into how AI systems are designed, adopted, and used in real organisational settings.

We’re looking for someone who brings together strong academic foundations with hands‑on experience working with businesses and executive audiences.

What we’re looking for:

  • PhD‑level training (or equivalent experience) in Information Systems, Human–AI Collaboration, or a related field
  • Practical experience designing and implementing AI solutions that address both technical and organisational challenges
  • Hands‑on work with SMEs on applied AI projects, including:
    • Retrieval‑Augmented Generation (RAG)
    • Data chunking and structuring
    • Tools such as LangChain, knowledge graphs, and related frameworks
    • Previous involvement in executive education, leadership programmes, or senior‑level workshops

Postgraduate Pedagogies Symposium (01 July 2026)

The Postgraduate Pedagogies Symposium is a one-day event taking place on 1 July 2026 hosted hybrid at LSE, aimed at new and continuing Graduate Teaching Assistants (GTAs) with an interest in postgraduate pedagogies and teaching practice.

The symposium will feature a keynote presentation, a themed panel, and author presentations. Its main aims are to create a space for sharing practice, reflection, and research on postgraduate pedagogies, to connect GTAs with colleagues involved in pedagogical development, and to encourage cross-institutional dialogue. We will also be launching Volume 6 of Postgraduate Pedagogies during the symposium, and we warmly welcome attendees to join us for this special occasion.
