{"id":12286,"date":"2025-12-13T14:13:49","date_gmt":"2025-12-13T13:13:49","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs-staging.imperial.ac.uk\/videoarchive\/?p=12286"},"modified":"2025-12-14T12:14:24","modified_gmt":"2025-12-14T11:14:24","slug":"studying-for-the-future-1985","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs-staging.imperial.ac.uk\/videoarchive\/studying-for-the-future-1985\/","title":{"rendered":"Studying for the Future: 1985"},"content":{"rendered":"\r\n<p data-start=\"1599\" data-end=\"1988\">For the 1985 \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/blogs-staging.imperial.ac.uk\/videoarchive\/margaret-thatcher-at-imperial-college-1985\/\">Technology 2000<\/a>\u201d exhibition held at Imperial College, two videos were produced: <em data-start=\"1693\" data-end=\"1718\">Studying for the Future<\/em> and <em data-start=\"1723\" data-end=\"1747\">Discovering the Future<\/em>. Both made use of the same visual stock-footage material, such as teaching, research, and campus footage. <em data-start=\"1840\" data-end=\"1865\">Studying for the Future<\/em> was a promotional video for potential undergraduates. I\u2019ve managed to colour-correct and enhance the 40-year-old videotape.<\/p>\r\n<p data-start=\"1990\" data-end=\"2320\" data-is-last-node=\"\" data-is-only-node=\"\">A lot of what you\u2019ll see in this video has long gone\u2014for example, the old main entrance, the college shop, the Reactor Centre, and the TV Studio. However, as I\u2019ve said, it wonderfully captures what Imperial looked and felt like all those years ago. My memories are of a nicer, much happier and friendlier place back then, when people knew each other.<\/p>\r\n<p data-start=\"1990\" data-end=\"2320\" data-is-last-node=\"\" data-is-only-node=\"\">How much do you remember of the old place?
