{"id":10790,"date":"2023-06-01T09:27:47","date_gmt":"2023-06-01T08:27:47","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs-staging.imperial.ac.uk\/videoarchive\/?p=10790"},"modified":"2023-06-01T09:27:47","modified_gmt":"2023-06-01T08:27:47","slug":"queens-anniversary-prize-2008","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs-staging.imperial.ac.uk\/videoarchive\/queens-anniversary-prize-2008\/","title":{"rendered":"Queen&#8217;s Anniversary Prize: 2008"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Back in 2006 the Schistosomiasis Control Initiative (SCI), directed by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.imperial.ac.uk\/people\/a.fenwick\">Professor Alan Fenwick<\/a> of the Department of Infectious Disease Epidemiology, received the Prize for its work tackling schistosomiasis in countries across sub-Saharan Africa, where approximately 200 million people are at risk of the disease that can impair development and cause liver and kidney damage.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs-staging.imperial.ac.uk\/videoarchive\/files\/2023\/05\/Queens-Annivesary-Prize-2008-00032322.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"300\" height=\"169\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-10803\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs-staging.imperial.ac.uk\/videoarchive\/files\/2023\/05\/Queens-Annivesary-Prize-2008-00032322-300x169.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/a>The Rector, at the time, Sir Richard Sykes and Professor Fenwick visited Buckingham Palace on 14 February 2008 to collect the Prize from The Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh.
