{"id":1953,"date":"2016-07-25T10:39:41","date_gmt":"2016-07-25T10:39:41","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs-staging.imperial.ac.uk\/surgeryandcancer\/?p=1953"},"modified":"2016-07-25T10:39:41","modified_gmt":"2016-07-25T10:39:41","slug":"professor-ma-gives-keynote-lecture","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs-staging.imperial.ac.uk\/surgeryandcancer\/2016\/07\/25\/professor-ma-gives-keynote-lecture\/","title":{"rendered":"Professor Ma gives Keynote Lecture"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs-staging.imperial.ac.uk\/surgeryandcancer\/2016\/07\/25\/professor-ma-gives-keynote-lecture\/ma-2\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-1954\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"703\" height=\"351\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-1954\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs-staging.imperial.ac.uk\/surgeryandcancer\/files\/2016\/07\/Ma.jpg\" alt=\"Ma\" \/><\/a><a href=\"http:\/\/www.imperial.ac.uk\/people\/d.ma\">Professor Daqing Ma<\/a>\u00a0delivered his keynote lecture entitled <em>\u201cAnaesthesia can Influence Cancer Patients\u2019 Surgical Outcomes\u201d<\/em>\u00a0at the Summer Symposium of the Royal College of Anaesthetists (RCoA) on \u201cImproving Patient Outcomes in Anaesthesia and Perioperative Medicine,&#8221; held in Brighton from 7 &#8211; 8\u00a0June, 2016.<\/p>\n<p>The Symposium was assembled from a group of renowned national and international experts who presented on a wide range of subjects with a common theme of improving outcomes. Prof Ma\u2019s lecture focused on his group\u2019s \u201cpioneering\u201d work of the potential impact of anaesthetics\/techniques in promoting cancer recurrence following surgery. \u00a0The lecture was very well received from an\u00a0audience\u00a0of over 500 consultant and trainee anaesthetists at the conference. Prof Ma also participated in the\u00a0judging of trainee\u2019s oral and poster presentation prizes during the conference.<\/p>\n<p>Prof Ma&#8217;s area of research, which has the potential to change clinical practice for cancer patients, has been supported by his BOC Chair grant.
