{"id":1329,"date":"2015-07-02T14:04:52","date_gmt":"2015-07-02T14:04:52","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs-staging.imperial.ac.uk\/surgeryandcancer\/?p=1329"},"modified":"2015-07-09T09:20:45","modified_gmt":"2015-07-09T09:20:45","slug":"prizes-all-round","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs-staging.imperial.ac.uk\/surgeryandcancer\/2015\/07\/02\/prizes-all-round\/","title":{"rendered":"Prizes all round"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Congratulations to three members of the Department who have all recently won prizes:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Mr Daniel Leff<\/strong> won the prestigious Gukas Prize, given annually form the Norwich Medical School for the best graduate on the Master of Surgery in Oncoplastic Breast Surgery degree.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Dr Susannah Clarke<\/strong> won the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.theregister.co.uk\/2015\/07\/02\/f_earns_syme_top_royal_academy_of_engineering_award\/\">Royal Academy of Engineering\u2019s prestigious silver medal<\/a>, which is awarded to individuals who can turn remarkable technical achievements into commercial success. Clarke\u2019s pioneering idea of using a 3D printer to make fully customisable surgical instruments at the click of a button has already been put to use in more than 400 surgeries.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Dr James Alexander<\/strong> won \u00a3500 at the &#8216;Endoscopy dragons den&#8217; for his in vivo iendoscope project.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Jose Vicente Torres-Perez<\/strong>, (PhD Student with Dr. Istvan Nagy) who\u00a0got awarded a travel grant from the Imperial College Trust (General Funds) to\u00a0attend the 9th Congress of the European Pain Federation, Vienna, Austria, 2 &#8211; 5 September 2015, where he will be presenting his poster titled \u201cCan Nav1.7 be targeted for controlling pain after burn injury?\u201d<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Congratulations to three members of the Department who have all recently won prizes: Mr Daniel Leff won the prestigious Gukas Prize, given annually form the Norwich Medical School for the best graduate on the Master of Surgery in Oncoplastic Breast Surgery degree.
