Although this does mean we lose an hour of sleep, it also heralds the beginning of warmer and sunnier weather.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>We have already had some unprecedented warm days so far this year, raising concerns for our planet\u2019s welfare and the effect that this has on the ecosystem. Whilst this shouldn\u2019t be forgotten, our body needs sunlight to function. Sunlight activates the production of vitamin D, which is a vital ingredient for lowering blood pressure, protecting against inflammation and improving brain function. Not to mention the benefits to mental health and sleep quality. Summertime cannot come quick enough for me!<\/p>\n<p>If you\u2019re stuck for places to go to where you can make the most of the lovely weather, here are some spots in London that I\u2019ve already managed to pay a visit to, that will be perfect to spend a sunny afternoon in\u2026<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3>Greenwich Park<\/h3>\n<figure id=\"attachment_4467\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-4467\" style=\"width: 640px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"768\" class=\"wp-image-4467 size-large\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs-staging.imperial.ac.uk\/student-blogs\/files\/2019\/03\/IMG_6996-1024x768.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-4467\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">The stunning view of Greenwich Park and the skyline of Canary Wharf.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>I get to walk through this lovely park every Sunday on my way to work, before the very steep hill up to the Royal Observatory. It is the perfect place to grab an ice-cream and chill out with friends.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3>Battersea Park<\/h3>\n<figure id=\"attachment_4466\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-4466\" style=\"width: 225px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"225\" height=\"300\" class=\"wp-image-4466 size-medium\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs-staging.imperial.ac.uk\/student-blogs\/files\/2019\/03\/IMG_7196-225x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-4466\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Trying to play mini-golf in the rain!<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Sadly the last time I visited Battersea Park it was raining (hence the rain poncho\u2026) but I still had a lovely time walking around the bandstand and boating lake, as well as a visit to the caf\u00e9. Best-known for being the home to lots of wildlife, including deer, it is a fantastic place to go for some longer walks.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>I hope this has given you some motivation to get outside and explore some of the greener spaces in London.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>British Summer time officially begins tomorrow.
