{"id":3225,"date":"2018-03-09T16:36:32","date_gmt":"2018-03-09T16:36:32","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs-staging.imperial.ac.uk\/student-blogs\/?p=3225"},"modified":"2018-03-09T16:46:40","modified_gmt":"2018-03-09T16:46:40","slug":"drama-imperial-act-ii","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs-staging.imperial.ac.uk\/student-blogs\/2018\/03\/09\/drama-imperial-act-ii\/","title":{"rendered":"Drama at Imperial: Act II"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3>Coming to you from mid-way through play week.<\/h3>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\" aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/media.giphy.com\/media\/DpB9NBjny7jF1pd0yt2\/giphy.gif\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Picking up where I left off in the last blog post; as the Autumn Play was happening, Freshers&#8217; Play was also a thing! So each year, older years in drama get together to direct (and sometimes even write) 3 short plays featuring the freshers. I remember genuinely freaking out because one of the plays were improv meaning the audition would be too. Honestly ended up having an absolute blast- and got one of the leads. I played a (largely-drunken) drama fresher who was couch-surfing because she had been kicked out of halls.\u00a0<em><strong>Good times.\u00a0<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"960\" height=\"958\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-3323 \" src=\"https:\/\/blogs-staging.imperial.ac.uk\/student-blogs\/files\/2018\/03\/23658449_1670196223032106_7590195246243917957_n.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Right after Freshers&#8217; and Autumn play, came Christmas play- wahey! Literally auditions for this began the day after <em>The Last Days of Judas Iscariot<\/em> (Autumn play) ended. We did\u00a0<strong><em>Almost, Maine\u00a0<\/em><\/strong><em>by John Cariani.\u00a0<\/em>Absolutely not biased opinion but it was the cutest, and most heart-warming thing ever. We set up blankets, pillows, fairy-lights, and served hot chocolate! This was a special one for me- I not only got to act in it, but I was also asked to be producer by the (in)famous drama twins Eri and Yuri.\u00a0<em>So much love for themmm.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"2048\" height=\"1365\" class=\"wp-image-3339 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs-staging.imperial.ac.uk\/student-blogs\/files\/2018\/03\/26910457_1733501720034889_8939845214019410252_o-2.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1780\" height=\"930\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-3325 \" src=\"https:\/\/blogs-staging.imperial.ac.uk\/student-blogs\/files\/2018\/03\/24831084_1687558241295904_733458393429244717_o.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Main play auditions actually began on the same day as Christmas play. Rehearsals started in January and fast forward to March- we&#8217;re just past half way through play week!\u00a0<strong><em>The\u00a0<\/em><\/strong><strong><em>Crucible <\/em><\/strong><em>b<\/em><em>y Arthur Miller\u00a0<\/em>is a dark masterpiece filled with witchcraft and possession, small-town drama and adultery, topped off with lots of shouting and screaming. It&#8217;s been intense for all of cast and crew, but there&#8217;s nothing else we&#8217;d rather be doing.\u00a0<em>Especially work- so much procrastination, it&#8217;s great.\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"837\" height=\"438\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-3326 \" src=\"https:\/\/blogs-staging.imperial.ac.uk\/student-blogs\/files\/2018\/03\/28782928_1786101678108226_9128999910493513520_n.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p>However, with another play week coming close to an end, I introduce you to post-play week blues. After growing accustomed to showing up for makeup and costumes, some class acting, dressing-room pints, and just bonding really- you&#8217;re left feeling somewhat empty. A bit like after you finish a TV show; it&#8217;s like, what do I do with my life now?<em> Look forward to the next play, of course.\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\" aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/media.giphy.com\/media\/B0vFTrb0ZGDf2\/giphy.gif\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Joining ICSM Drama was easily one of the best decisions in my life.\u00a0The love and support I&#8217;ve received from everyone, especially the older years, have been endless.
