First year of uni was…
What is first year of uni like?
Because it is a lot more than just “fun”, I had to make a video about it.

I was told the Summer was also a thing in England, “a week long thing”.
Since earlier this year there was so much snow, I did not believe in the exaggeration a whole week was!
It turns out even the Sun comes for a 5 c’clock tea with Her Majesty every now and then.

“When I initially message the president asking to join cheer late in the term, I hadn’t really left my bed in three months. I was then in hospital for about a month in December. After that, cheer was the only time I left my house for in a while. I just want to thank all of you so so soooo much for being so lovely and welcoming from the start, and just overall amazing people. I know it seems a bit weird, but being surrounded by you guys has really helped me this year so much and I am so much better than I was before so I’m extremely grateful for all of you!!!”
“fivesixsassyeight Titans! [After nationals] We did so well yesterday and hope you all have enjoyed not just nationals but regionals, training and socials… the whole season! We all have improved so much individually and as a team! I am so proud of everyone that has learnt new tumbles, perfected challenging stunts and even those who have overcome personal fears. We have really been a dream team! It has been a perfect start and end :'( with you! Watch out… Titans coming through in the res white and blue!”
“Thought I was going to turn 20 alone in hospital, but my mummy came down, my friends surprised me with cake and balloons, and I was discharged just in time for my party… Ended up turning 20 while doing tequila shots in the union!! Also, [a friend] had to bring her pjs to Spring carnival because she was fully ready to stay the night in hospital with me, so yeh I have the best friends ever and I love them all xxxx”

Although London is a world in itself, England has a lot more to offer. Getting away from the streetlights and the bright night sky is exactly what you need every now and then.
That’s what I did for a weekend. There were four of us, we hopped in the car with one thought in our minds: Hello Kent, bye work!

Your hall is your home for the first year and your flat mates shall be your family.
Every year, Linstead does a hall trip. This year we went to Budapest for a weekend.
Here’s to the memories that we will remember
Here’s to the people we won’t forget

It’s holiday season, Christmas lights everywhere, happy wishes in every corner, warmth and love in every single person around and for most students time to go home.
So, since I am just like most students, I partied to celebrate the end of term, and then partied again because it’s Christmas. Which led to a few very productive days of hangover doing absolutely nothing but Netflix – like you should. With all the partying and it’s consequences checked off my to do list, it’s time to catch a flight (right after doing laundry, miracles may happen but that’s just in Easter, right now your cloths won’t wash themselves). 45 minutes in the tube, an hour and a quarter in the train, 3 miles queuing and an hour and a half due to a delay later and I’m on the plane on my way home. It’s late and as I look through the window and see all those lights, shaping the city I’m in love with,

Being underage at Imperial isn’t great, at any university really, but London’s security in general is quite tight… To be honest, it does not inhibit you of doing anything. However, you will have to do it in a not so conservative way, but try to keep it on the legal side – just an advice.
Firstly, your welcome week won’t be as fulfilled with nights out as the other students’. In spite of that I never said that you couldn’t have fun! Although you can’t go the clubs, you will be able to party indoors. During the first week there is a lot of prees in the common rooms- JOIN IN. You will have lots of fun, get to talk to everyone and sleep for a good amount of time!
When it comes to the red box around your photo on your student ID, that’s a bit harder! Every Sportsnight (Wednesday), Friday and Saturday night, the Union is secured by -and I have to be honest here and thank them for their patience and politeness when denying my entrance- very nice guards. They are there not only, but also to make sure everyone who is let in is of age. Which means, getting in after roughly 8 pm is impossible. But if you are willing to wait since 7 pm in the union until the night starts, there is no one stopping you!
The most important thing is that you don’t let your age get in the way of making friends! For me, it wasn’t a problem at all. Although it was something all my friends were aware of, I wouldn’t let a number get in my way of having the best time I could!
