{"id":62,"date":"2018-01-15T16:36:46","date_gmt":"2018-01-15T16:36:46","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs-staging.imperial.ac.uk\/learning-and-teaching-strategy\/?p=62"},"modified":"2018-11-16T10:56:30","modified_gmt":"2018-11-16T10:56:30","slug":"launch-of-teaching-toolkits","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs-staging.imperial.ac.uk\/learning-and-teaching\/2018\/01\/15\/launch-of-teaching-toolkits\/","title":{"rendered":"Launch of Teaching Toolkits"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\"><em>By Kate Ippolito, Principal Teaching Fellow in Educational Development<\/em><\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>We are very pleased to announce the launch of Imperial College\u2019s online <a href=\"http:\/\/www.imperial.ac.uk\/staff\/educational-development\/teaching-toolkit\/\">Teaching Toolkit.<\/a> Based on our experience of working successfully with hundreds of Imperial\u2019s teaching staff to introduce them to educational principles and techniques and enable them to apply these to improve the effectiveness of their teaching we have designed the Teaching Toolkit to support the College-wide Curricula Review and Pedagogical Transformation process and to complement the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.imperial.ac.uk\/staff\/educational-development\/workshops\/\">EDU\u2019s workshops<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.imperial.ac.uk\/staff\/educational-development\/programmes\/\">PG programmes<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"300\" height=\"255\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-94\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs-staging.imperial.ac.uk\/learning-and-teaching-strategy\/files\/2018\/01\/Screenshot-2-300x255.png\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p>To reflect the aims of the Learning and Teaching Strategy and target areas for development during the initial curriculum review phase the first three sections available are:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.imperial.ac.uk\/staff\/educational-development\/teaching-toolkit\/intended-learning-outcomes\/\">Intended Learning Outcomes<\/a><br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.imperial.ac.uk\/staff\/educational-development\/teaching-toolkit\/inclusive-learning-and-teaching\/\">Inclusive Learning and Teaching<\/a><br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.imperial.ac.uk\/staff\/educational-development\/teaching-toolkit\/assessment-and-feedback\/\">Assessment and Feedback<\/a><\/p>\n<p>In these sections you\u2019ll find explanations of <strong>key educational concepts<\/strong>, such as <em>what makes a useful learning outcome<\/em>, <strong>strategies and tips<\/strong>, such as <em>how to persuade students to act on feedback and<\/em><strong> advice<\/strong>, including on <em>how to make lecturing and group working more inclusive<\/em>. You\u2019ll also find inspiring yet feasible examples from Imperial teaching staff. Please take a look, share and discuss the ideas with your colleagues and let us know what you think. We anticipate that this toolkit will become a focal point for developing and disseminating high quality, supportive teaching and learning practices across Imperial.<\/p>\n<p>Coming soon\u2026 the <strong>Evaluating and researching education<\/strong> section and more internal and external examples, along with evidence of impact including video testimonies.
