I joined Imperial in May 2017 and work as a Student Hub Advisor. I enjoy the variety in my work and talking\u00a0<\/span>to<\/span>\u00a0people from many diverse backgrounds. A snapshot of my day can include supporting a student whose landlord is threatening to evict them, creating a webpage in\u00a0<\/span>HTML<\/span>\u00a0or holding a presentation for prospective students.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

When COVID-19 hit, the\u00a0<\/span>Student\u00a0<\/span>Hub<\/span><\/a>\u00a0also had to hit the ground running, upping our game as the main point of contact for students. We had to react fast and maintain all our support services. My main area of responsibility is Private Housing and I have worked closely with marketing to come up with the\u00a0<\/span>#<\/span>Road<\/span>T<\/span>o<\/span>P<\/span>rivate<\/span>H<\/span>ousing<\/span>\u00a0campaign<\/span><\/a>.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The<\/span>\u00a0pandemic\u00a0<\/span>has caused much anxiety and uncertainty for students looking for private accommodation and living in the private sector. I have been working with marketing to develop a new section of the website dedicated to \u2018<\/span>Private Accommodation and C<\/span>OVID<\/span>-19<\/span><\/a>\u2019 to guide students through their private housing journey: how students can safely view properties<\/span>,<\/span>\u00a0avoid scams and ensure they are protected and know their rights and responsibilities.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

I\u2019ve been making sure that students feel supported and that their voices are heard, especially in the private sector. I\u2019ve been in contact with them via video chat and on the phone.\u00a0<\/span>The whole team has<\/span>\u00a0worked hard on ways to make ourselves available so\u00a0<\/span>students\u00a0<\/span>can come to us with questions and concerns. It\u2019s great to see students interacting with us on Twitter and other platforms. Every fortnight I answer students\u2019 questions in our new Q&A video segment.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
