I started working at Imperial in 2013 on a <\/span>Faculty of Medicine<\/span><\/a> graduate scheme. Since then I have undertaken a whole variety of roles across the university; I was the Cardiovascular Division Manager in the <\/span>National Heart & Lung Institute<\/span><\/a>, then the Institute Manager for the <\/span>Data Science Institute<\/span><\/a>, then the Director of Operations for the <\/span>Grantham Institute for Climate Change and the Environment<\/span><\/a>. I feel really proud to work at Imperial, it is amazing to turn on the TV and see my colleagues on the news. It is a privilege to work with such talented, motivated, and interesting people.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Currently I am a Process Outcome Designer (POD) working on the Great Service Programme<\/a>, implementing a new Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) IT system, to replace our very old system, ICIS. The project will have a really positive impact, as it will streamline processes, create efficiencies and reduce manual workarounds. Hopefully, it will make every-day processes like recruitment, purchasing and submitting expenses less cumbersome for everyone!<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The role of a POD is to do whatever needs to be done to move a project forward. PODs are the link between the technical professionals implementing the system and the business. I use my experience and knowledge of Imperial to make sure that the technical solution works for the university, and the staff and student communities. I work with lots of different stakeholders and teams \u2013 I go out to departments and engage with them on future process design, system testing and training.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

It is very different from my \u2018usual\u2019 job! I have been introduced to a whole new world of software and technology; I have even attended the <\/span>Oracle CloudWorld Tour<\/span><\/a> conference at ExCeL. I enjoy connecting with colleagues across the whole university and it has been really interesting discovering how other teams work, for example payroll and finance.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

I spend my free time climbing, playing netball, in the gym, making pottery, crocheting, travelling, and converting my Ford Transit into a camper van. I love being outdoors in nature, living life to the full, challenging myself and experiencing new things. I can\u2019t wait to take my campervan, Elton, to Switzerland in August to compete in a Spartan Beast (21 km race with 30 obstacles along the way!)<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
