\u201cWorking with my peers to overcome the inevitable challenges we have faced during the\u00a0<\/span><\/span>p<\/span><\/span>andemic has made my student experience the best it could be<\/span><\/span>.<\/span><\/span>\u201d\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/strong><\/h3>\n

I recently graduated from the University of Edinburgh with a BSc in Neuroscience<\/span>\u00a0and started my\u00a0Master\u2019s\u00a0degree in Translational Neuroscience in the autumn<\/span>.<\/span>\u00a0I am fascinated by several areas of\u00a0<\/span>n<\/span>euroscience, including\u00a0<\/span>p<\/span>sychedelics and\u00a0<\/span>d<\/span>ementia\u00a0<\/span>c<\/span>are, and <\/span>t<\/span>echnology. I hope to carry out my\u00a0<\/span>Master\u2019s<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>t<\/span>hesis in\u00a0<\/span>p<\/span>sychedelic research, and I aspire to continue my studies with a PhD in this field. One of my life goals is to combine\u00a0<\/span>s<\/span>cience and\u00a0<\/span>t<\/span>echnology to massively improve the quality of life of those suffering from debilitating\u00a0<\/span>n<\/span>eurological\u00a0<\/span>d<\/span>iseases.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

I have many hobbies including playing the cello, photography, jogging, going to art galleries, and cooking. Now I\u2019m back home in London, I\u2019ve loved introducing the new friends-for-life I\u2019ve made at Imperial (on socially distanced walks with takeaway <\/span>l<\/span>attes) to London\u2019s hidden charms including Coal Drop\u2019s Yard and Holland Park\u2019s Kyoto Gardens, which I hope to continue doing post-<\/span>l<\/span>ockdown.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

With everything currently being online, I seized every opportunity to develop my skills and take on new challenges using online platforms like LinkedIn. Most memorably, I participated in a Hackathon run by\u00a0<\/span>Imperial College Business School<\/span><\/a>, where I helped develop an idea for an<\/span>\u00a0a<\/span>pp using gait analysis to help tackle\u00a0<\/span>d<\/span>ementia. I received outstanding coaching from<\/span>\u00a0the<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>Imperial Enterprise Lab<\/span><\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0<\/span>the\u00a0<\/span>Business School<\/span>.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

I have also<\/span>\u00a0joined the subcommittee of\u00a0<\/span>Imperial\u2019s<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>MedTech<\/span><\/a>\u00a0<\/span>s<\/span>ociety, where I\u00a0<\/span>organise<\/span>\u00a0talks by guest speakers on how\u00a0<\/span>t<\/span>echnology can massively aid\u00a0<\/span>s<\/span>cientific\u00a0<\/span>r<\/span>esearch and\u00a0<\/span>c<\/span>linical\u00a0<\/span>p<\/span>ractice. I also became a volunteer with\u00a0<\/span>What the Tech?!<\/span><\/a>, an Imperial student-run\u00a0<\/span>organisation<\/span>\u00a0aimed at\u00a0<\/span>local residents<\/span>\u00a0over 50, where\u00a0<\/span>I\u00a0<\/span>taught residents how to use technology over zoom.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Working with my peers to overcome the inevitable challenges we have faced during the pandemic has made my student experience the best it could be.\u00a0<\/span>Completing my MSc during the pandemic hasn\u2019t been without difficulties. Luckily, being a\u00a0<\/span>c<\/span>lass\u00a0<\/span>r<\/span>epresentative has allowed me to develop strong bonds with my peers, and working <\/span>together to overcome our challenges (including internet connectivity issues) and achieve our goals brings me the greatest joy!\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
