{"id":971,"date":"2017-03-24T12:51:35","date_gmt":"2017-03-24T12:51:35","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/imperialighi.wordpress.com\/?p=971"},"modified":"2019-03-29T10:11:12","modified_gmt":"2019-03-29T10:11:12","slug":"infectious-diseases-hub-speaks-to-tuberculosis-experts-from-cich-seminar","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs-staging.imperial.ac.uk\/ighi\/2017\/03\/24\/infectious-diseases-hub-speaks-to-tuberculosis-experts-from-cich-seminar\/","title":{"rendered":"Infectious Diseases Hub speaks to tuberculosis experts from CICH seminar"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium\" src=\"http:\/\/www3.imperial.ac.uk\/icimages?p_imgid=699408\" \/>Last week <a href=\"http:\/\/www.imperial.ac.uk\/global-health-innovation\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">IGHI\u2019s<\/a> <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.imperial.ac.uk\/global-health-innovation\/news-and-events\/monthly-global-health-forum\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span class=\"s2\">Global Health Forum<\/span><\/a><span class=\"s1\"> linked up with the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.imperial.ac.uk\/centre-for-international-child-health\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span class=\"s2\">Centre for International Child Health (CICH)<\/span><\/a><span class=\"s1\"> for the first event in their <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.imperial.ac.uk\/centre-for-international-child-health\/education-and-training\/seminars-and-courses\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span class=\"s2\">bi-monthly seminar series<\/span><\/a><span class=\"s1\"> focusing on the question, \u2018<\/span><span class=\"s2\">Tuberculosis- why are we not winning the fight?\u2019<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><!--more--><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">One of IGHI\u2019s seven centres, CICH aims to facilitate multi-disciplinary research partnerships and educational activities for global child health and joins up existing international child health research activities within the College and beyond.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">To mark <\/span><span class=\"s2\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.stoptb.org\/events\/world_tb_day\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">World TB Day<\/a>,<\/span><span class=\"s1\"> the speakers of the event, <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.shef.ac.uk\/scharr\/sections\/heds\/staff\/dodd_p\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span class=\"s2\">Dr Pete Dodd<\/span><\/a><span class=\"s1\"> of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sheffield.ac.uk\/\"><span class=\"s3\">University of Sheffield<\/span><\/a>, <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.imperial.ac.uk\/people\/james.seddon\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span class=\"s2\">Dr James A. Seddon<\/span><\/a><span class=\"s1\">, <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.imperial.ac.uk\/people\/e.whittaker\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span class=\"s2\">Dr Elizabeth Whittaker<\/span><\/a><span class=\"s1\"> of Imperial College London, and chair of the event and CICH Director, <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.imperial.ac.uk\/people\/b.kampmann\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span class=\"s2\">Professor Beate Kampmann<\/span><\/a><span class=\"s1\"> spoke to the <\/span><span class=\"s2\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.id-hub.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Infectious Diseases Hub<\/a>\u00a0(IDH)<\/span><span class=\"s1\">\u00a0to have an in-depth discussion on the challenges in tuberculosis.
