{"id":775,"date":"2013-05-12T13:00:32","date_gmt":"2013-05-12T12:00:32","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www2.imperial.ac.uk\/fom\/?p=775"},"modified":"2018-05-29T10:38:10","modified_gmt":"2018-05-29T09:38:10","slug":"ipad-pilot-launch-event-at-the-faculty-of-medicine","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs-staging.imperial.ac.uk\/fom\/2013\/05\/12\/ipad-pilot-launch-event-at-the-faculty-of-medicine\/","title":{"rendered":"iPad pilot launch event at the Faculty of Medicine"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www2.imperial.ac.uk\/fom\/files\/2013\/05\/ipad-2.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"199\" height=\"300\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-781 alignright\" src=\"http:\/\/www2.imperial.ac.uk\/fom\/files\/2013\/05\/ipad-2-199x300.jpg\" alt=\"iPad\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>The Faculty of Medicine<\/strong> will be piloting a project issuing <strong>iPads<\/strong> to students in <strong>years 5 and 6 of the <a href=\"http:\/\/www1.imperial.ac.uk\/medicine\/teaching\/undergraduate\/mbbsbscmedicine\/\">MBBS course<\/a><\/strong> at the beginning of the 2013\/14 academic term.<\/p>\n<p><strong> <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The main learning and teaching activities planned to be delivered on iPads are:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>All      the course learning materials will be accessed via Blackboard Learn.<\/li>\n<li>Students      on placements will be able to readily and easily access learning materials      and their own notes, and be able to add reflections, etc.<\/li>\n<li>Some      sign-off forms (DOPS) will be available electronically on the iPads      allowing clinical teachers to assess students and submit the DOPS to the Faculty      Education Office electronically, keeping a record on the students\u2019 iPads.<\/li>\n<li>Students      will be able to participate during lectures using virtual clickers hosted      on their iPads.<\/li>\n<li>Students      will access interactive iBooks in the area of Obstetrics &amp; Gynaecology.<\/li>\n<li>Students      will be able to receive updates from different sites directly on their      iPads providing a direct communication channel with clinical sites.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The iPad pilot launch event took place on <strong>15 May 2013 .<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www1.imperial.ac.uk\/medicine\/people\/m.toro\/\">Dr Maria Toro-Troconis<\/a><\/strong><br \/>\nE-Learning Strategy and Development Manager<br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www1.imperial.ac.uk\/medicine\/\">Faculty of Medicine<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Faculty of Medicine will be piloting a project issuing iPads to students in years 5 and 6 of the MBBS course at the beginning of the 2013\/14 academic term.
