{"id":2979,"date":"2015-12-02T17:26:40","date_gmt":"2015-12-02T16:26:40","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www2.imperial.ac.uk\/fom\/?p=2979"},"modified":"2015-12-02T17:26:40","modified_gmt":"2015-12-02T16:26:40","slug":"lkcmedicine-clinical-leads-visit-imperial","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs-staging.imperial.ac.uk\/fom\/2015\/12\/02\/lkcmedicine-clinical-leads-visit-imperial\/","title":{"rendered":"LKCMedicine clinical leads visit Imperial"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"807\" height=\"357\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-2980\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs-staging.imperial.ac.uk\/fom\/files\/2015\/12\/LKCMedicine-visit.jpeg\" alt=\"LKCMedicine clinical leads visit Imperial\" \/><br \/>\n<strong>A delegation from the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.lkcmedicine.ntu.edu.sg\/Pages\/Home.aspx\">Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine<\/a> in Singapore visited Imperial in November.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The week-long LKCMedicine visit included meetings with clinical counterparts; visits to Imperial\u2019s teaching sites Chelsea and Westminster Hospital, Charing Cross Hospital and West Middlesex Hospital; observation of a Year 5 significant educational activity; the Faculty of Medicine conference, the <a href=\"http:\/\/www3.imperial.ac.uk\/newsandeventspggrp\/imperialcollege\/medicine\/newssummary\/news_26-11-2015-15-30-56\">teaching awards and Professor Timothy Orchard\u2019s inaugural lecture, \u2018Speaking from the gut\u2019<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt is always a pleasure to welcome our colleagues from LKCMedicine to Imperial,\u201d said <a href=\"http:\/\/www.imperial.ac.uk\/people\/p.ratcliffe\">Paul Ratcliffe<\/a>, Deputy Director of Education Management.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt has been a great opportunity to introduce them to many of our excellent NHS teachers and colleagues involved in delivering education. I was also delighted that the visit coincided with the faculty education forum and that our visitors were able to contribute to this.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>At the conference, Dr Kemp of LKCMedicine gave a presentation on the transition to learning in clinical settings. Associate Professor Wong took part in a panel discussion on \u2018the making of a doctor: how to help our students navigate the transition from school child to foundation school\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>The trip also provided an opportunity for both the clinical leads and the Imperial curriculum team to discuss the delivery of the Year 4 curriculum and discuss plans for assessment.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www3.imperial.ac.uk\/newsandeventspggrp\/imperialcollege\/newssummary\/news_2-10-2013-11-38-54\" target=\"_blank\">LKCMedicine opened in 2013<\/a> as a collaboration between Imperial College London and Nanyang Technological University in Singapore with an inaugural cohort of 54.
