{"id":1380,"date":"2014-01-20T13:14:02","date_gmt":"2014-01-20T12:14:02","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www2.imperial.ac.uk\/fom\/?p=1380"},"modified":"2018-05-29T10:37:52","modified_gmt":"2018-05-29T09:37:52","slug":"new-faculty-of-medicine-website","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs-staging.imperial.ac.uk\/fom\/2014\/01\/20\/new-faculty-of-medicine-website\/","title":{"rendered":"New Faculty of Medicine website"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>After a few exceptionally busy months, we <strong>relaunched our Faculty webpages<\/strong> on Friday 17 January 2014.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.imperial.ac.uk\/medicine\/\" target=\"_blank\">www.imperial.ac.uk\/medicine\/<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The new website has been in development for a while to showcase the work of the Faculty within our main research themes. In order to do this, research landing pages have been developed and the old and out of date material removed.<\/p>\n<h3>Our research on film<\/h3>\n<p>A large and exciting part of the project was to produce a high quality video for each \u2018research landing page\u2019 to more easily communicate what the Faculty is doing in each main area of research. Whilst the filming was completed in late-October (thank you to all that were involved!), the editing process took a bit longer than had been anticipated \u2013 trying to cut down the footage filmed in half in order to fit into the time allocated for each video was tricky.<\/p>\n<p>We produced 13 videos in total: 11 for the research themes, another to give an overview of our research and one to better communicate how, through the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ahsc.org.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\">AHSC <\/a>and <a href=\"http:\/\/imperialbrc.org\/\" target=\"_blank\">NIHR Imperial BRC<\/a>, the Faculty translates its research.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www1.imperial.ac.uk\/medicine\/research\/\" target=\"_blank\">You can view the videos on the website<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Other objectives for the website were to:<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Improve the homepage:\n<ul>\n<li>making it easier to navigate to key content<\/li>\n<li>better promote news, social media activity and other content<\/li>\n<li>increase awareness of the Academic Health Science centre and our other strategic initiatives<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Improve the way we are communicating research across the Faculty:\n<ul>\n<li>Creating a much improved \u201cOur research\u201d landing page<\/li>\n<li>Better communication of the AHSC, NIHR Imperial BRC and other strategic partnerships and initiatives<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Review, reduce and re-prioritise content:\n<ul>\n<li>Changing our main navigation<\/li>\n<li>Culling old, out of date and unused content<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Audience focussed architecture:\n<ul>\n<li>Re-purposing \u201cteaching\u201d into \u201cProspective students\u201d giving a better overview of our courses \/ education and in particular our Master\u2019s degrees<\/li>\n<li>Better information \/ signposting for Staff<\/li>\n<li>Better content for the \u201cabout us\u201d section<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Preparation for the College website re-design \/ CMS project:\n<ul>\n<li>Details below<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>College website re-design project<\/h3>\n<p>With the new College website design and content management system (CMS) on the horizon, we have taken the opportunity to review content, and where necessary, cull out of date, old and redundant pages.
