{"id":1144,"date":"2013-09-25T17:16:17","date_gmt":"2013-09-25T16:16:17","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www2.imperial.ac.uk\/fom\/?p=1144"},"modified":"2018-05-29T10:37:59","modified_gmt":"2018-05-29T09:37:59","slug":"partnership-for-child-development-september-update","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs-staging.imperial.ac.uk\/fom\/2013\/09\/25\/partnership-for-child-development-september-update\/","title":{"rendered":"Partnership for Child Development September update"},"content":{"rendered":"<h1>Applications open for the\u00a03rd Asia SHN Training Course<\/h1>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs-staging.imperial.ac.uk\/fom\/files\/2013\/09\/Laos-short-course.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"229\" height=\"152\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-1145\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs-staging.imperial.ac.uk\/fom\/files\/2013\/09\/Laos-short-course.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Following the success of the 2nd School Health &amp; Nutrition (SHN) Training Course for government, United Nations and civil society staff in the Asian region earlier this year, <a href=\"http:\/\/www1.imperial.ac.uk\/partnershipchilddevelopment\/\">PCD<\/a> are delighted to announce that <a href=\"http:\/\/www.tm.mahidol.ac.th\/training\/school-health-nutrition-2013-index.htm\">applications are now open<\/a> for the 3rd Asia SHN Training Course.<\/p>\n<p>Held at Mahidol University in Bangkok, Thailand, and jointly hosted by the Thai Ministries of Education and Health between 2 -10 December 2013, the course will cover a broad range of topics in the field of SHN and will focus on the key issue of malnutrition; looking at the double burden of stunting and wasting, and under-nutrition among children as well as the growing issue of child obesity in Asia.<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.schoolsandhealth.org\/Pages\/3rdAsiaSHNTrainingCourse.aspx\">Read more on the 3rd Asia SHN Training Course<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<h1>PCD supports Kenyan Ministries of Education and Health to carry out national training for school meals programme<\/h1>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"270\" height=\"152\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-1149\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs-staging.imperial.ac.uk\/fom\/files\/2013\/09\/DSC02827.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p>In order to strengthen the implementation of <a href=\"http:\/\/hgsf-global.org\/kenya\/\">Kenya\u2019s Home Grown School Meals<\/a> (HGSM) programme, PCD recently supported Kenya&#8217;s ministries of education and health to deliver national training to school feeding implementers across 70 counties and sub-counties in Kenya.<\/p>\n<p>The initial phase of training was carried out among a total of 345 heads and directors from education, health and agriculture county departments, to enhance the role of Kenya\u2019s decentralized regions in the programme and to increase the involvement of the programme\u2019s supply chain beneficiaries.
