The scholarship is part of the \u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/bfwg.org.uk\/bfwg6\/index.php\/95-scholarships\/284-bfwg-scholarship-winners-2013\">British Federation of Women Graduates\u00a0Scholarship Awards 2013<\/a>, \u00a0which provides prizes for academic excellence to female PhD students in their final year.<\/p>\n<p>Naomi&#8217;s success follows last year&#8217;s, where two Imperial students;\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/bfwg.org.uk\/bfwg6\/index.php\/scholarships\/previous-award-winners\">Stephanie Walton and Lucy Thorne, also won awards<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www1.imperial.ac.uk\/medicine\/people\/a.blakemore\/\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Dr Alexandra Blakemore<\/strong><\/a><br \/>\n<strong>Faculty of Medicine Ambassador for Women<\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Dr Naomi Walker, a PhD student from the Department of Medicine, has been awarded the Ruth Bowden Scholarship (\u00a35000) for her work on \u201cDefining mechanisms of tissue destruction in TB and TB immune reconstitution inflammatory syndrome (TB-IRIS)\u201d.
