Meet Alexandra Smetanina, a first-year doctoral student in Design Engineering and a Lord Sainsbury PhD scholar at CSEP.<\/em><\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Could you tell us a bit about yourself and your professional background?<\/strong><\/p>\n

I had recently completed my MSc at KCL’s London Institute for Healthcare Engineering, where I explored the feasibility of medical devices for use in UK A&E departments. I\u2019ll be continuing this line of research during my PhD, with a particular focus on system barriers to AI implementation in healthcare.<\/p>\n

My prior background is in business administration, and I worked as a media analyst for London based marketing agencies collaborating primarily with healthcare clients. I\u2019m especially interested in the intersection of science, innovation, and business.<\/p>\n

How do you see your role contributing to CSEP\u2019s mission?<\/strong><\/p>\n

I am truly grateful for the opportunity to contribute to the growing body of research examining how the effective implementation of AI in healthcare can improve population health, enhance system-level performance, and, in turn, help strengthen the UK economy through more efficient, sustainable, and evidence-informed care.<\/p>\n

What are your interests outside your work?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Outside of work, I’m a huge lover of tea and even make my own blends at home! I also speak English, Russian and French, and I\u2019m really looking forward to meeting and working with everyone.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
