{"id":458,"date":"2011-10-17T09:48:19","date_gmt":"2011-10-17T08:48:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs-staging.imperial.ac.uk\/announcements\/?p=458"},"modified":"2016-05-20T11:32:36","modified_gmt":"2016-05-20T10:32:36","slug":"agency-workers%e2%80%99-regulations","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs-staging.imperial.ac.uk\/announcements\/2011\/10\/17\/agency-workers%e2%80%99-regulations\/","title":{"rendered":"Agency Workers\u2019 Regulations"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>With the introduction of the Agency Workers\u2019 Regulations, which came into effect on 1 October 2011, HR have created a guidance document for managers to ensure that the responsibilities and implications for the College are fully understood and executed.<\/p>\n<p>The new legislation provides agency workers with the same basic employment rights and working conditions as if they had been recruited directly by the College, after they have completed a qualifying period of 12 weeks.\u00a0It also ensures they have access to College facilities and internal job vacancies from the beginning of their contract.<\/p>\n<p>The new \u2018Guidance for Managers when Engaging Agency Workers\u2019 <a href=\"https:\/\/workspace.imperial.ac.uk\/hr\/Public\/Procedures\/Agency%20Workers\/Agency%20Workers%20Guidance%2008%2009%2011.pdf\" target=\"_blank\">can be found\u00a0 here.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>As an alternative to employing agency workers, managers are encouraged to consider employing casual workers where appropriate.
