Vice-Dean (Education), Faculty of Natural Sciences

Professor Emma McCoy has accepted appointment as the Vice-Dean (Education) for the Faculty of Natural Sciences with effect from 1 August 2017. Professor McCoy succeeds Professor Alan Spivey, who has served in this role since 2013.

Professor McCoy completed her PhD in Statistics at Imperial in 1994, after which she joined the College as a Research Associate. She was appointed Professor of Statistics in 2014 and was the first female Professor in the Mathematics Department at Imperial. Professor McCoy served as Interim Head of Department between July 2010 and September 2011, and has served as Deputy Head of Department since October 2011.

Professor McCoy is a Fellow of the Institute for Mathematics and its Applications and a Fellow of the Royal Statistical Society. She is also a member of the Royal Statistical Society’s Academic Affairs Advisory Group and the Royal Society’s Advisory Committee on Mathematics Education, as well as serving as the Mathematics subject expert for the Department of Education’s discussions on reform of the National Curriculum.

Professor McCoy’s research interests include Time Series, Wavelets and Causal Interference, with a particular interest in Transport Studies.
